Molecular Vista’s European User Meeting

Prof. Christian Teichert, Markus Kratzer ( Chair of Physics) and Ing. Kateřina Plevová (Materials Science and Testing of Polymers) have attended the Molecular Vista’s European User Meeting which took place at the Max Planck Institute of Polymer Research in Mainz (Germany). They were invited to present their research using photo induced force microscopy (PiFM). Their talks, “PiFM attempts on polymers, molecules, and layered materials” (M. Kratzer) and “Compatibilizer effects on polymer interfaces in PE-PA blends” (K. Plevová) were well received and intensively discussed among the experts. The workshop was a great opportunity to discuss first hand with experts from academia and industry. The presented talks ranged from the use of PiFM in nanoscale chemical characterization of secondary proteins, via industrial applications like latent resist imaging in semiconductor manufactoring to electrode-electrolyte interfaces of lithium ion batteries.

Excursion to Infineon

In the framework of the Master Course "Semiconductor Materials" 15 Materials Science students from Montanuniversität Leoben visited Austrian Semiconductor Manufacturer "Infineon" in Villach on Feb. 1st 2024. The excursion was organized by Lecturer Dr. Evelyn Napetschnig (Infineon) and Univ. Prof. Christian Teichert (MUL). The excursion included visits to the production line and the characterization lab as well presentations of former students from Leoben presenting their tasks in R&D of novel semiconductor materials from ultrathin Si wafers to wide band-gap materials like SiC and GaN."
